BYD Dolphin Brakes & Rear Suspension Selection

Identify the Dolphin rear suspension before ordering carriers, arms, springs or dampers.

Dolphin Brakes & Rear Suspension Selection component reference
Representative component group; identify each assembly independently.

Choose the rear layout before rear components

Torsion-beam and multi-link vehicles use different structural assemblies; battery capacity alone cannot separate them. Keep a clear installed rear-axle image with the vehicle record.

Build a torsion-beam order by attachment

For a confirmed beam vehicle, compare the beam pivots, spring seats, damper attachments and hub mounting interfaces. Decide whether the request is for a bare beam or an equipped assembly. Hubs, brakes and bushes should be explicit contents rather than assumed from an assembly photograph.

Locate each multi-link arm

For a multi-link vehicle, identify each rear link by its installed position and side. Use the carrier and adjacent joints to establish orientation. Do not convert a rear-arm request into a torsion-beam quotation, or infer that an entire set is needed from one damaged link.

Separate front hub and brake boundaries

A front wheel hub flange and its pressed bearing may have separate material references, while a rear hub may be sold as a unit. Compare encoder and wheel-position requirements. Disc, caliper body, carrier and parking motor references also describe different supply scopes.

Retain front-drive identification

Keep front CV shafts separated by side and electric drive-unit record. Rack, knuckle and joint interfaces need their own checks even after the correct chassis layout is known. Request qualified inspection where collision damage affects mounting datums.

Connected assembly checks

Keep Brake Pads and Brake Discs matched to the installed Brake Caliper, then identify the Brake Hose by the same wheel corner and fitting orientation.

A rear brake order may separate the Parking Brake Actuator from the Brake Caliper; record the axle-specific Brake Pads and Brake Discs without assuming they are included in the caliper assembly.

During wheel-corner identification, compare the ABS Wheel Speed Sensor with the encoder on the Wheel Hub Bearing and its mounting at the Steering Knuckle. Keep the tire-mounted TPMS Sensor on a separate electrical identification record.
