MG5 parts • petrol sedan, turbo and Electric estate identified separately
MG5 Petrol Service & Transmission Parts
Prepare MG5 petrol filter, ignition, belt, timing and gearbox requests. Distinguish CVT, DCT and actual manual-clutch service from Electric estate parts.

Keep engine intake and cabin filtration separate
The petrol air-cleaner element seals its engine intake box; the cabin element belongs to the HVAC tray. The Electric estate has cabin filtration but no combustion-engine intake or oil filter. Compare removed-element dimensions and sealing edges before choosing media, and keep each accepted filter under the correct engine or cabin record.
Retain ignition and lubrication specifications
Spark-plug reach, seat, heat grade and coil contact must match the actual petrol engine. An oil filter also needs its thread or housing, seal and full marking. Neither a shared 1.5-litre capacity nor an exterior trim name approves an earlier port-injection service item for a later engine revision.
Distinguish accessory belts from timing systems
Identify the external belt route, fitted loads and tensioner geometry independently of the internal engine timing system. A timing kit needs its own chain or belt architecture, guides and sprocket contents. Do not add pumps, cam phasers or covers automatically because they appear near a photographed timing assembly.
Check gearbox serviceability before ordering a filter
Use the actual transmission label and approved service boundary to identify a filter, pan and seals. CVT and DCT components are not interchangeable by advertised ratio count. Some elements are internal rather than normal service replacements; confirm that the requested item is separately supplied before preparing bulk quantities.
Restrict manual clutch requests to a real manual installation
Some petrol markets offer a manual sedan, but that does not establish a manual clutch application for every MG5. Compare gearbox code, flywheel interface, disc spline and release mechanism. List the bearing or hydraulic release unit as agreed contents, and exclude DCT internal clutches and Electric estate drive internals.
Related assembly decisions
The ignition coil boot and spark plugs must suit their actual engine and seating depth.
Keep the valve cover coil mounts and sealing record separate from the accepted ignition set; a cover does not include every ignition component.
Match the accessory drive belt route and belt tensioner offset to the installed alternator pulley and other actual accessories.
An external belt does not identify an internal engine timing system.
Use the actual gearbox label before requesting a transmission filter or transmission mount.
A conventional manual clutch kit belongs only to a confirmed manual installation, not CVT service or DCT internal friction packs.
Assemblies to identify separately
| Assembly | Application boundary | Selection record |
|---|---|---|
| Engine Air Filter | Petrol engine air-cleaner element only; Electric estate cabin filtration belongs to its own page | Engine code, air-box perimeter, depth and sealing lip |
| Cabin Air Filter | Exact sedan or Electric estate assembly and interfaces; a shared MG5 name does not establish interchange | Tray dimensions, airflow direction, frame and media |
| Engine Oil Filter | Exact sedan or Electric estate assembly and interfaces; a shared MG5 name does not establish interchange | Engine code, cartridge/spin-on format, dimensions and seal |
| Transmission Filter | An actually serviceable element for the exact petrol CVT/DCT or other identified gearbox only; electric reduction-drive internals excluded | Gearbox label, filter position, pickup and mounting |
| Spark Plugs | Exact sedan or Electric estate assembly and interfaces; a shared MG5 name does not establish interchange | Engine marking, thread, reach, seat and heat range |
| Ignition Coil | Exact sedan or Electric estate assembly and interfaces; a shared MG5 name does not establish interchange | Full label, socket key, fixing and boot reach |
| Accessory Drive Belt | Exact sedan or Electric estate assembly and interfaces; a shared MG5 name does not establish interchange | Engine, complete belt code, rib count and route |
| Belt Tensioner | Exact sedan or Electric estate assembly and interfaces; a shared MG5 name does not establish interchange | Engine bracket, pulley line, width, arm travel and mounting |
| Engine Timing Kit | Exact sedan or Electric estate assembly and interfaces; a shared MG5 name does not establish interchange | Engine label, chain format, guides, tensioner and sprockets |
| Manual Clutch Kit | Confirmed manual petrol sedan only; CVT, DCT internal clutches and Electric estate excluded | Engine/MT code, disc spline, flywheel, cover and release system |
Continue the identified order
Use the MG5 system directory for other assemblies and the parts-list quotation guide for quantities and destination. Keep body and powertrain identification with every accepted item.
