Honda City Generations, Body & Market Identification

Resolve City sedan, hatchback, production era and regional naming before comparing replacement parts.

Use the build record, not generation shorthand

Vehicle contextPeriod or marketPurchasing distinction
Earlier regional sedansBefore the 2014-era redesignUse chassis and engine labels; separate earlier i-DSI ignition and later i-VTEC applications.
2014-era sedan familyMarket launch dates varySeparate 1.5 petrol and Indian i-DTEC diesel; identify facelift and transmission.
City Sport Hybrid i-DCDMalaysia launch in 2017Keep the seven-speed DCT hybrid separate from petrol CVT and newer e:HEV.
2019/2020-era sedan and later hatchbackSeparate market introductionsIdentify 1.0 turbo, naturally aspirated petrol or e:HEV; body and regional equipment remain decisive.

Separate body and regional names

City generation numbering is not consistent across markets. Use production date and the full chassis identifier rather than asking for a fourth- or fifth-generation part without a country. Sedan and hatchback panels, rear lamps and door mechanisms require separate body confirmation.

Earlier regional City sedans and later global City families are not one application. A related Honda name, similar engine size or shared platform is only a reason to check the catalog, not proof of interchangeability.

For a front-end repair, compare the body and lighting requirements. For an engine or gearbox order, start with the powertrain comparison.

A usable vehicle record

FieldUseful evidence
Build date and sales marketVIN plate, registration market and production label; registration year alone can be misleading.
Body and trimFront, rear and side views; sedan or hatchback; facelift, camera and lighting equipment.
Engine and transmissionEngine label and gearbox identifier; petrol, diesel, i-DCD and e:HEV remain separate.
Component identityOld-part label, connector, mounting and dimensions appropriate to the assembly.

Continue with the same vehicle details

Use the City component directory to identify other assemblies for the same vehicle. Once the part specifications are clear, check shipping and quotation requirements for quantities, packing and destination details.

Auto parts inquiry

Send the vehicle and part evidence.

Include brand, full model, year, engine or EV drivetrain, OE/material code, quantity, destination and packing request. You can attach a list or old-part photos.
