MG ZS Engine & Gearbox Service Parts
Build MG ZS engine and gearbox service lists from installed housings. Separate cabin filtration, ignition, timing, manual clutch and filter service positions.

Start with the fitted housing or service position
Build a maintenance order from the actual engine and gearbox labels, then compare filter housings and service positions. Engine air, engine oil, cabin and gearbox elements perform different tasks. A kit sold under the ZS badge cannot establish every element or an electric drivetrain application.
Separate engine and cabin filtration
An earlier petrol intake has its own frame and perimeter seal; newer petrol and Hybrid+ requests retain their original housings. Cabin filtration remains relevant on ZS EV, but its HVAC tray decides dimensions and media. Do not substitute an engine element for a cabin request merely because the parts list says air filter.
Confirm lubrication and fuel-service boundaries
Historic Rover ZS oil entries must not be transferred to the modern SUV. Keep engine marking, thread or cartridge format and gasket together. Establish whether fuel filtration is a separately serviceable element or part of a tank module before quoting a replacement; neither is ordinary EV maintenance.
Identify ignition and internal timing separately
Spark plugs retain their thread, reach, seat and accepted heat specification; coils retain plug-well depth and electrical identity. Internal timing drive requires actual chain or belt evidence and itemized contents. The engine accessory belt follows a different route and cannot establish timing architecture.
Keep transmission identity with the service element
Earlier manual/automatic, ZST CVT or six-speed automatic and newer petrol CVT records must remain distinct. A Hybrid+ dedicated drive is not selected from a petrol CVT filter list. Confirm serviceability, pickup and seals; an EV reduction unit does not automatically have a removable maintenance filter.
Restrict conventional clutch and accessory orders
A manual clutch set needs a confirmed petrol MT build, flywheel, spline and release system. Automatic, CVT and hybrid internal clutches are not alternate versions of that set. Retain conventional petrol belt routing and tensioner geometry rather than infer an EV or Hybrid+ generator accessory programme.
Related assembly comparisons
Keep the engine air filter with its engine intake housing, not the HVAC tray used by the cabin air filter.
A combustion lubrication request needs the separate engine oil filter seat; cabin filtration on ZS EV does not imply engine service items.
Establish whether the fuel filter is separately serviceable before discussing the fuel pump / tank module.
The transmission filter belongs to the identified gearbox, not the tank or engine lubrication circuit.
Retain the installed ignition specification for spark plugs and the socket/boot record for the ignition coil.
The camshaft position sensor has its own mounting and signal identity; an ignition symptom does not select it.
Assemblies to identify separately
| Assembly | Application boundary | Selection record |
|---|---|---|
| Engine Air Filter | Identified petrol or Hybrid+ engine application; ZS EV excluded | Engine code, air-box perimeter, depth and sealing lip |
| Cabin Air Filter | Exact SUV generation, installed equipment and assembly interfaces | Tray dimensions, airflow direction, frame and media |
| Engine Oil Filter | Identified petrol or Hybrid+ engine application; ZS EV excluded | Engine code, cartridge/spin-on format, dimensions and seal |
| Fuel Filter | Only a confirmed separately serviceable petrol element; tank-module strainer not assumed | Installed location, marking, hose ports and flow direction |
| Transmission Filter | Verified serviceable petrol or Hybrid+ gearbox element only; BEV reduction-drive filter not inferred | Gearbox label, filter position, pickup and mounting |
| Spark Plugs | Identified petrol or Hybrid+ engine application; ZS EV excluded | Engine marking, thread, reach, seat and heat range |
| Ignition Coil | Identified petrol or Hybrid+ engine application; ZS EV excluded | Full label, socket key, fixing and boot reach |
| Accessory Drive Belt | Actual conventional petrol accessory route only; hybrid generator drives not inferred | Engine, complete belt code, rib count and route |
| Belt Tensioner | Identified petrol accessory drive only; engine timing devices are separate | Engine bracket, pulley line, width, arm travel and mounting |
| Engine Timing Kit | Confirmed petrol or Hybrid+ engine timing architecture only; chain and belt contents distinguished | Engine label, chain format, guides, tensioner and sprockets |
| Manual Clutch Kit | Confirmed earlier petrol manual gearbox only; AT, CVT, BEV and Hybrid+ excluded | Engine/MT code, disc spline, flywheel, cover and release system |
