MG4 battery-electric hatchbacks • MSP, XPOWER and Urban identified separately
MG4 MSP, XPOWER & Urban Parts Identification
Identify MG4 MSP rear-drive, XPOWER AWD and Urban front-drive parts. Compare body, platform, chassis and equipment before choosing assembly references.

Start with the body and drive architecture
Separate the MSP/EH32 MG4 EV hatchback from the newer E3 MG4 EV Urban. A registration date alone cannot distinguish them, because market line-ups can overlap. Keep the complete sales name, original market, production label and full exterior photographs before comparing body or chassis components.
Keep rear drive, dual motors and front drive distinct
A single-motor MSP vehicle drives the rear wheels; XPOWER adds a front electric drive unit and its own performance chassis package. Urban uses front-wheel drive and a different body/platform. Keep the front and rear driven-axle records with the electric drive units; a petrol-style transfer case or longitudinal propeller shaft is not part of this layout.
Identify the rear suspension before choosing arms
MSP cars use rear multi-link suspension; Urban uses a torsion-beam rear axle. A loose link, suspension carrier and complete rear beam are different purchasing boundaries. Retain exact pivots, wheel-end plates, springs and damper mounts rather than extending a rear-axle number across platforms.
Treat sales names as a search aid, not fitment approval
An earlier Mulan name may help identify an original-market MSP vehicle but does not approve a later car merely called MG4. Keep market and production evidence with each accepted item. MGS electric SUVs, MG5 estates and ZS EV bodies remain separate even where a supplier groups them under one electric-vehicle category.
Keep the part identity with the commercial list
Group each quantity under its own vehicle record, corner and installed marking. Ordinary service, wheel-corner, cabin and body equipment can be compared without assuming battery chemistry, charging power or hidden software identity. Controlled HV and safety modules need separately confirmed supply capability rather than ordinary replacement-part assumptions.
Keep the three vehicle programmes separate
| MG4 vehicle record | Identify before quotation | Purchasing boundary |
|---|---|---|
| MG4 EV Rear-Wheel Drive | MSP/EH32 five-door hatchback, original market, build revision, rear drive-unit label, chassis load and fitted equipment | Earlier and refreshed MSP rear-drive cars retain their own body, wiring and battery/load records. A rear driven axle does not imply a front motor or front driven shaft. |
| MG4 XPOWER AWD | Full XPOWER sales name, build label, front and rear drive units, performance brake package and tuned suspension | XPOWER has front and rear electric drive equipment and a performance chassis package. No petrol-style transfer case or longitudinal propeller shaft is inferred. |
| MG4 EV Urban Front-Wheel Drive | Full Urban sales name, E3 body/build, original market, front drive unit, rear torsion beam and installed equipment | Urban is a separate front-driven hatchback with a torsion-beam rear axle, not an interchangeable MSP facelift. Registration year or a shared MG4 badge cannot choose its parts. |
Related assembly decisions
An ordinary subframe supports identified chassis or drive-unit interfaces, while the drive-unit mount defines an external isolation connection.
The Urban rear torsion beam is a different rear architecture, not an MSP multi-link carrier or a battery enclosure.
Compare the headlights, front bumper and fender at their meeting edges before accepting a front-body order.
Earlier MSP and Urban photos must remain separate; lamp beam market and sockets still need their own confirmation.
Assemblies to identify separately
| Assembly | Application boundary | Selection record |
|---|---|---|
| Brake Discs | Exact MSP RWD, XPOWER or Urban assembly identity, chassis/circuit and installed interfaces; no automatic cross-platform interchange | Diameter, thickness, hat height, centre bore and venting |
| CV Axle / Drive Shaft | Rear driven shafts on MSP RWD; front and rear records on XPOWER AWD; front driven shafts on Urban FWD | Side, spline, working length, joints and seal land |
| Cabin Air Filter | Exact MSP RWD, XPOWER or Urban assembly identity, chassis/circuit and installed interfaces; no automatic cross-platform interchange | Tray dimensions, airflow direction, frame and media |
| Water Pump | Identified standalone low-voltage electric coolant pump and exact loop only; integrated HV modules excluded | Circuit, drive, housing, impeller and ports |
| Headlights | Exact MSP or Urban body revision, corner, steering market, equipment functions and mounting or wiring interfaces | Build, LHD/RHD beam, lamp technology, modules and sockets |
| Front Bumper | Exact MSP or Urban body revision, corner, steering market, equipment functions and mounting or wiring interfaces | Full front photo, build, grille/lamp/sensor openings and finish |
| Drive-Unit Mount | Ordinary external mount only, with exact electric drive-unit position; traction motor and reduction-drive internals excluded | Installed front or rear electric drive unit, mount position, brackets and isolator |
| Rear Torsion Beam | Confirmed E3 Urban rear torsion-beam installation only; MSP RWD and XPOWER multi-link rear suspension excluded | Confirmed Urban E3 rear beam, pivot bushes, spring seats and wheel-end plates |
Continue the identified order
Use the MG4 system directory for the remaining assemblies and the parts-list quotation guide for quantities and destination. Compare brakes and driven corners before accepting a mixed chassis list.
Auto parts inquiry
Send the vehicle and part evidence.
Include brand, full model, year, engine or EV drivetrain, OE/material code, quantity, destination and packing request. You can attach a list or old-part photos.
