Choose suspension components from the actual axle and spring layout, not from a generic pickup load description.

Distinguish the front spring system

A torsion-bar front suspension and a coil-over front assembly require different spring and damper specifications. Relevant D22 torsion-bar applications must not be merged with D40 or D23 coil-over requests. Retain mounting, side and original specification even when the replacement looks physically similar.

Check the rear of the vehicle

Published D23 regional ranges include both rear leaf springs and five-link rear coils. Cab type is useful context but is not a universal rule across markets and grades. Photograph the spring and locating hardware: longitudinal trailing arms and a lateral panhard rod are different orders from a leaf-spring pack.

Separate original replacement from a modification

Record lifts, changed spring rates, altered brackets and non-standard dampers. Free length alone does not define travel or load behavior, and stronger springs do not automatically increase the vehicle payload rating. Keep an engineered modification specification separate from an ordinary replacement request.

Follow the steering system to the joint

Identify box-and-linkage or rack steering and LHD or RHD. A steering box, rack, inner joint and outer tie-rod end each have different mounting and interface checks. Hydraulic pumps apply only to the identified hydraulic system. Keep later-generation steering redesigns on their own record.

Define arm and bearing supply boundaries

Specify upper/lower arm and side, plus bush and ball-joint inclusion. A whole-arm reference is not automatically a loose-joint specification. For wheel-end orders, identify complete hubs, service bearings and ABS encoders separately; make the agreed contents visible in the quotation.
