Start with the identification plate
Keep the full chassis identifier, build date, original sales market, engine and gearbox together. Registration year can differ from production year, especially for imported vehicles. A local GQ, GU or Safari description helps start the inquiry but does not replace the identification plate.
Describe the vehicle as it is now
Provide front, rear and underbody photographs when bodywork, axle hardware or suspension is relevant. A replacement front-end conversion may no longer match the original facelift. State known engine, axle or gearbox changes rather than allowing the chassis record to imply that everything remains factory fitted.
Keep body and market distinctions visible
Short and long wheelbase, wagon, hardtop and commercial body details affect shafts, cables, panels and rear equipment. Record LHD or RHD separately from the traffic-side headlight requirement. Similar-looking regional vehicles and related model names still require catalog confirmation.
One vehicle record, several component lines
Attach the same vehicle record to each line, then add the evidence needed for that component: caliper outline for pads, connector and label for a sensor, or mounting and dimensions for a shaft. Mark unknown fields openly. Approve substitutions only after the original application and the proposed replacement have been compared.
Apply the vehicle record to the component
Patrol Headlights: Identify the actual front design, side and traffic-side beam. Separate Y61 Safari revisions, Y62 facelifts and Y63 assemblies with their fitted lighting controls.
Patrol Engine Mount: Match engine family, mounting position and bracket to the fitted drivetrain. Distinguish plain rubber, hydraulic and controlled mount constructions where applicable.
Patrol Propeller Shaft: Specify front or rear shaft, body wheelbase and gearbox-to-axle configuration. Record flange pattern, working length and joint arrangement.
