Nissan Patrol Brake & Suspension Parts Buying Guide
Identify the hardware at the requested wheel before comparing brake, suspension or steering assemblies.
Read the rear brake independently
Confirm whether the rear service brake uses a disc or drum, and identify parking-brake actuation separately. A small parking shoe inside a rotor hat is not the same as a rear service-brake shoe. Caliper and rotor dimensions remain necessary even when the axle has been identified.
Do not mix axle-location systems
Solid-axle radius arms and panhard rods serve different mounting arrangements from independent-suspension control arms. Steering boxes and their linkages likewise differ from steering racks. Keep axle position, drive side, mounting geometry and bush or joint contents on the quotation.
Identify hydraulic and controlled damping
Check damper ports and control connections rather than accepting a conventional shock by length alone. Y62 HBMC components belong to a connected hydraulic system. Later air or electronically controlled suspension must be identified by the fitted grade and hardware. Specialist hydraulic assemblies require a separate supply and technical assessment.
Record modifications before ordering
Suspension lifts, changed spring rates and relocated steering brackets alter the identification problem. A longer brake hose, adjustable rod or steering damper does not on its own establish safe geometry or clearance. Ask the responsible workshop for the required specification and keep it separate from an original-equipment replacement request.
